The golden green plumage and sapphire crown of a rare and endangered parrot is a sight to behold. This beautiful bird is only found in the high elevations of the central Andes in Colombia. When perched, you can see the blue and red in its wings and tail, which are even more striking when it takes flight. It’s common to see several of these parrots flying together from one fruiting tree to another. Although it used to be challenging to spot this elusive bird, it has been reliably seen along dirt roads in the Santa Rosa de Cabal area in recent years.
